Merry Greetings!
It is Sunday here at the North Pole and, as you all know, that is a day held sacred by Santa. Santa never works on Sunday, unless there is a big emergency.
This is not new news. Sundays have always been sacred to Santa. Sunday is Santa’s Sabbath, which makes it a day for going to church and getting rest.
“We have long been taught to take one day in seven as a day of rest,” Santa explained to me. “It is good for the body and for the spirit. We will rest today.”
Many of the letters and emails coming in to the North Pole all week long have asked if Santa would take this day off. Frankly, I thought maybe this year Santa would work. But no, Santa told us late last night to take today off as well.
Later today we will meet as a community at the North Pole Chapel to hold a worship service. This is a great event here at the North Pole. We will sing Christmas carols and Santa will read the Christmas story from the 2nd chapter of Luke. We love always love it when Santa tells this story because he always gets excited while doing it.
But many of Santa’s head elves are worried about taking today off. Elf Bernard in the workshop, Elf Billy in the Weather Center, Elf Victor at Santa’s Stables and Elf Wally from Wrapping all met together before closing shop late last night and talked about it.
They have, of course, done as Santa has requested. But we can all tell they are concerned.
It will be a busy week here at the North Pole for sure!
